  • All day Wickham festival

Blind Lane, Blind Ln, Wickham, Fareham PO17, UK

The outskirts of historic Wickham village provide a picturesque setting for one of the safest and most relaxed festivals of the summer. Enjoy some great live music.
t's not all about the music - You can enjoy a wide range of family entertainment including: cartoon cinema, storytelling, puppet theatre and make ‘n’ take crafts tent. In addition there is a digital funfair, playbus, laser arena, bouncy castles and children’s entertainers – and all are free once people are in the festival arena! Enjoy the entertainers who wander freely for your amusement or try out the giant deckchair or show your partner just how much they light up your life by holding hands under the electronic love heart. This was a huge hit last year so the festival is bringing back the giant heart which lights up only when two people hold hands beneath it to complete the circuit.
The saw doctors ,The Proclaimers ,Curtis Stigers, Tommy Emmanuel , Ferocious Dog , The John Jones trio , Mec Lir , Black Water county and many more.

Freebird is a moving and beautifully crafted tribute to Eva Cassidy. It celebrates her life, music and enduring legacy through a seamless blend of powerful live performance and thoughtful storytelling.

  • 2:00 pm to 9:30 pm Portsmouth punk festival

Portsmouth Guildhall, Guildhall Square, Portsmouth PO1 2AB, UK

A full day event will see nine bands of the high-energy DIY scene take to the stage.

Opening the event with their ‘no-nonsense punk rock you can shout along to’ are local band Uncivilized, whose raw, high-energy sound is inspired by the best street punk, skate punk and hardcore bands.

Next up is scrappy melodic punk three-piece from Canterbury, Well‘ard who are all about fun, inclusivity and supporting your local music scene. Having spent the last two years carving out a space and gigging across the south, they have recently released their debut EP.

Why Pinto, a local three-piece DIY skate pop-punk band who have been active for over 10 years are next to perform. Known for their catchy, high-energy sound, they blend punk rock with pop sensibilities and occasional ska influences.

Sad songs with big volume are next on the agenda with eatboys, a melodic emo three-piece whose sound sits somewhere between confession and confrontation. Intricate riffs, urgent hooks, and the kind of energy that hits you in the chest before you know what’s happening – it’s vulnerable, messy and meant to be screamed in a packed room!

Formed from the ashes of previous bands, with a sound described as “punk rock for feeling good in spite of your dread”, the melodic Buds are up next with their anthemic, energetic punk style with emo and grunge influences.

Known for their energetic live performances, Sunliner deliver high-octane melodies, massive choruses, and intimate, introspective lyrics. A gruff, melodic punk rock band from Leeds, they have evolved from folk-punk roots to a driven punk, indie, and hardcore-influenced sound.

Into the evening, and ‘freak punk’ band Be N!ce will take to the stage with an electric performance and their genre-bending style that combines punk, post-punk, grunge, and alt-metal. Tackling social issues with a mix of fury and humour, their sound with its heavy, raw and melodic elements is painfully sincere.

The penultimate act and one of the hardest-working DIY bands on the scene, is ‘thrash-skate-punk’ group, Pizza Tramp. Known for their incredibly fast, short, and humorous songs, their music mixes hardcore punk with thrash influences and comedic lyrics in songs about daily misery, beer, and antisocial behaviour.

Bringing the festival to a close will be headliner, Wonk Unit. Known for their unique take on punk rock, super proactive DIY ethos and cult-like T-shirt range. One of the most unique bands in modern punk, they have been described as “a fresh breath of life on the scene. They’re fun, weird, poetic and utterly compelling all at once, a must-see!” (Art Rocker).
