Amba Tremain is an original artist, professional vocalist, songwriter and vocal coach from Portsmouth. Amba’s career began in 2001 when she was the winner of ITV’s TV talent show ‘This is my moment’ hosted by Mel B of The Spice Girls. Since 2001 Amba has worked as a gigging musician playing in several corporate bands as both a keyboard player and vocalist, which soon led onto credible session work around the world.

In 2008 Amba was awarded a Gold Disc by the BPI for her contributions to the late Eva Cassidy’s album ‘Somewhere’ (Blix Street Records) and not long after that Amba recorded on the eagerly anticipated first solo album by Boy George ‘This is what I do’. This led onto a European tv press tour and several writing, top-lining and studio sessions.

As a versatile vocalist Amba’s original releases have ranged from big room floor fillers to intimate soulful acoustic tracks. Although Amba still works as a session vocalist, her love of writing music brought her to the decision to step out as a soloist herself. In 2019 she took the first steps to writing an album and has since appeared on international music platform ‘Sofar Sounds’, is a regularly featured artist on ‘BBC introducing’, she has taken to the stage in Clarksdale, USA at Morgan Freemans Blues Club ‘Ground Zero’ and performed at legendary Rockwood Music Hall in New York.

As a local original artist Amba has played iconic Portsmouth venues such as the Wedgewood Rooms, Kings Theatre, Guildhall, Victorious Festival to name a few. Now Amba is taking her music further afield and regularly performs her shows to London, Brighton and the midlands audiences.

As an entrepreneur, in 2018 Amba created ‘The musicians Network’, an industry consultation service for up and coming musicians. And was the co-founder of ‘The Urban Vocal group’, winning the ‘Shaping Portsmouths Cultural Partnership Award’ and The Portsmouth News Guide Award for ‘Special Achievement’.

Amba has now launched ‘The VOX Vocal Group’ which is a brand new contemporary music group for adults based in Havant.

As well as being a solo artist,

Amba is also 1/3 of band ‘Blame Jones’ who’s acoustic cover versions have secured them a position on Tristars record label, with tracks being played on shows like ‘The Greatest Dancer’ and ‘Love Island’. The band also featured alongside music legends such as Coldplay, Justin Timberlake, Ed Sheehan and Pink on the album ‘Kushelrock’, released by Sony Music Germany as well as featuring on international acoustic album ‘Heartstrings’ alongside pop legends Dua Lipa, Shawn Mendes, George Ezra and James Arthur. Blame Jones have featured on over 170 thousand worldwide playlists and currently have over 14 million all time streams on Spotify.

Amba has written with and for artists such as Ella Henderson, James Arthur, Newton Faulkner, Sam Bailey, Jermaine Douglas, Roachford and many more.

Amba has also toured as a backing vocalist and keyboard player with local artists Jerry Williams, Marley Blandford and Mollie Scott.

In 2020 Amba completed an MA in ‘Music industry, innovation and enterprise’ and is soon to be releasing a range of music business courses online.

As an original artist – Amba brings the sound of ‘Cinematic Soul’, a sound that blends brand new music with old school vibes, creating songs that have the power to transport you back in time. With a heavy dose commercial blues and RnB thrown in, there are influences of Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Amy Winehouse and Alicia Keys.

Whether she’s out acoustically or with her full band, Amba delivers a huge, unadulterated soul show and packs a big punch with her vocals. Her songs are real stories about passion, love, heartbreak and honest feelings, some will even move you to tears.
